PlayStation owners will have to wait a bit longer before they can take on the role of Kratos and wield his iconic Blades of Chaos again. According to a new tweet from developer Santa Monica Studio, the highly anticipated God of War sequel has been pushed back to 2022 so the team can deliver a “top-quality game” and maintain its safety and wellbeing. The delay may also have something to do with the fact that development has expanded to include a PlayStation 4 version.

Fine by me... a little concerned that it's going to also be a PS4 title. Was hoping development would focus solely on PS5, but I'm sure it'll still be great.

I didn't even think the game was coming out in 2021. I thought it was gonna be 2022 at the very earliest.

Yar, especially considering it's not until 2022. Not sure if the PS4 needs a big first party exclusive at that point in its lifecycle.

I wasn't expecting it until 2024 so this is a pleasant surprise?

Was this supposed to come out for the PS4 as well? I hadn't heard that. Honestly, even if it does the architecture of the two condoles are so similar it shouldn't be much of an issue for the PS5 version to take advantage of it the way a true exclusive would.

Even if that wasn't the case, God of War looked so good on the PS5 I'd still be okay with a marginal improvement but with 4k@120

Because people around the world can't actually get a ps5 even if they want to. Developing a 100 million dollar game for the handful of people who actually got one is kind of pointless.
