CJ 4DPlex is a South Korean cinema tech firm that’s responsible for 4DX, a “4D” film format that leverages massive, 270-degree wraparound screens to provide a super-immersive cinematic experience that traditional theaters can’t match.



Thanks to a new deal agreed upon between Sony Pictures and CJ 4DPlex, Marvel fans in select territories will be able to enjoy the upcoming Venom sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home and 13 other highly anticipated films in 4DX Theaters.



In addition to the multi-screen projection technology (dubbed “ScreenX”), CJ 4DPlex’s premium 4DX Theaters also feature seats that bring the on-screen action to life with effects that include rolling, shaking, tickling. It's like Eyefinity / NVSurround for movies. I guess they've got to come up with some way to get people to come back to theaters given there is little other reason to do so.
 
I usually enjoyed IMAX events. Maybe this will be as good
 
I would love to play Dirt (or any driving game) on a screen like that. Movies, not so much. The IMAX movies are shot in larger format to accomodate the bigger screen.... here they are just taking regular movies and stretching it. I'm curious how it works out, but not sure I would pay (and certainly NOT extra) to see movies this way.
