Sony to Keep PlayStation 3 and PS Vita Stores Open Following Controversy

Following a storm of complaints ranging from the loss of legacy titles to the inability to download crucial game patches, Sony has opted to reverse course from its original decision of closing its PlayStation 3 and PS Vita stores and to keep them open indefinitely instead. The U-turn was confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan today, who published a post on the official PlayStation Blog admitting that it was the “wrong decision” not to keep the stores open and allow PS3 and PS Vita fans to continue purchasing games for the aging but relatively popular platforms. PlayStation Portable’s store, however, will retire on July 2, 2021 as planned.

Some bonehead exec at Sony thought they could save a few bucks by shutting down the PSN access for older devices. I mean.. does it cost EXTRA to keep those sections online? Not like they had to invent a new process to sell and download, it's all been there forever.

Oh and someone else realized they could still make money off old games and suddenly it's a 180 flip.

But keep in mind this is Sony we're talking about, so they could change their minds again when the weather changes.
