The return of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home’s mid-credits scene didn’t only surprise fans; it also implied that Sony was attempting to tie its current and previous Spider-Man films together. Based on today’s casting news, that definitely seems to be the plan.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is reprising his role as the shocking villain for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ next installment. While there’s a possibility that this may be another version of Electro (if you’ll remember, he blew up at the end of the 2014 film), Foxx will definitely be going up against Tom Holland’s Spidey in some shape or form.
