Would you have imagined that Sam Fisher’s next mission would be on a streaming service? Variety has learned that Netflix and Ubisoft are developing an anime adaptation of the latter’s hit stealth franchise, Splinter Cell, which has been AWOL since 2012’s Blacklist (nope, those Ghost Recon: Wildlands cameos don’t count). You’d think that Ubisoft would have had a new adventure or two for Sam Fisher by now, who isn’t getting any younger (actually, he might be, based on the retcon he was given in the last installment), but surprisingly, it’s going to be a streaming service that gives us an idea of where the sneaky, ex-NSA/Third Echelon assassin has been these past seven years.
We’re not sure whether the anime series will be a straightforward adaptation of the 2002...
