Square Enix Announces Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a Single-Player Title without DLC or Microtransactions

Square Enix has announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a third-person action-adventure game slated for release on October 26, 2021 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One platforms. Developed by Deus Ex, Thief, and Tomb Raider studio Eidos-Montréal, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy lets players step into the boots of Star-Lord and command key members of the alien superhero team in a struggle for the fate of the universe. Eidos-Montréal has reportedly promised that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will not have any DLC or microtransactions.

You know.... no DLC means no continued story... Could also mean no patches but I think they are talking common parlance here.

I now actually enjoy game expansions... I suppose the word is.. what is the intent... do they mean no vanity purchasable crap. Fine. But no expanded content.... kind of disappointing.

I'm interested. "No DLC" at least means the whole game should be there at release. Might not mean no expansion, certainly doesn't preclude a sequel if it's successful.

Now why would anyone think this will be any better than the avengers game?

Also being an MCU title is a big handicap for me. It would have to be twice as good to overcome that.

As for no DLC it is stupid. If a game is good I want stand alone expansions for it (not to be confused with live service and season pass content)
