Valve has confirmed that its highly anticipated handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck, will be launching on February 25.

The company announced the news in blog post today, which noted that the first batch of order emails would be sent out to reservation holders. Users who reserved a Steam Deck and still desire one have three days from the time they receive their order email to secure a unit; otherwise, their reservation will be released for the next person in the queue.

Very, very interested to see where this goes, cuz I've been in the market for a portable gaming-grade PC for years, one that I could sling around like a console and hook up to friends' HDTVs. Never got around to building a fragbox-style SFF system, and never could tolerate laptops much (either their prices or the fact that you can't build them from scratch). I wish Steam Deck had been a 6-core system, but hey at least Zen 2. What I'm really interested in is how the RDNA2-based GPU in that thing performs. Also wanna see what it's like when people use it like a regular PC, installing whatever software and OSes and whatever-the-f*ck-else they choose. I'd like to see how easy it is to get access to the M.2 drive.

I'm the same. Interested in a portable gaming system. I have never been a big fan of laptops in this niche.
I do have a SSF box for travel, but it's the monitor that I hate lugging around.

Not all motel/hotels have TV's with accessable HDMI ports.

I know the 64 and 256 models will probably be out first, but when I get the 512 unit I ordered, I'd be happy to try and review it, or offer it to one of the experienced reviewers here.
