Amblin Partners, the film and television studio co-founded by director Steven Spielberg, has entered into a partnership with Netflix to develop multiple new feature films per year for the world’s biggest streamer. The two companies previously worked together on Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 and are currently collaborating on Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic, Maestro, which is in pre-production. It wasn’t too long ago that Spielberg had criticized streamers for harming the motion picture theatrical experience, going so far as to suggest that Netflix films shouldn’t qualify for Academy Awards.
