Variety has learned that Steven Spielberg will no longer direct Indiana Jones 5. This is the man who gave us all of the previous films (alongside George Lucas, who drafted the stories), so this could spell trouble for the fifth entry – at least, tonally.



Spielberg hasn’t given a reason as to why he walked away from the film, but the decision was “entirely” his, which suggests that he didn’t like the script or was overburdened by other projects. The legendary director will remain as a “hands-on” producer, however.

Given that the last one was a bigger budget cross between a Stargate SG-1 episode and Indiana Jones, I have lost interest in the series.
 
I have enjoyed them all even the odd tone of the Crystal Skull one... but uhhh... I wonder if it's being influenced by that wacked out religion in holywood and he just went. "You know what, no... no thank you." Now if Harrison Ford walks away the project is dead in the water.
 
And Shia isn't in the new one. He was supposed to be the "new" Indy Jr. But apparently he rubbed Spielberg the wrong way.
