Street Fighter VI Announcement Rumored for Monday

Capcom will reportedly announce the sixth installment of its long-running Street Fighter franchise on Monday, according to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, whose sources claim to know what Capcom’s new teaser site, which features a countdown timer, is quickly ticking toward.



As suggested by Grubb in the latest episode of Giant Bomb’s GrubbSnax, Street Fighter VI will be announced when the timer hits zero at 1 a.m. ET on Monday, February 21. While this claim should still be treated as a rumor at this point, Capcom revealing the game this year would make a lot of sense, as 2022 marks the franchise’s 35th anniversary.

I f*cked around with 4 a bit but never really got into it. Didn't care for the game's visuals either. Barely touched 5, don't even remember if I actually have played it. Probably won't be interested in 6. I still play 2 (usually Turbo or Super), 3 (3rd Strike), and the Zero/Alpha games though. Overall I'm not as much into fighting games as I was in my youth, but I still enjoy them from time to time (like MK9-11, and some of the series from Arc System Works and French Bread), in terms of 2D fighters. Still love X-Men vs SF and MSH vs SF. 3D fighters I'll still sometimes f*ck with too, like Tekken 6 and 7, and Soul Calibur 6 was great (first one I've really enjoyed since 2).

Yoshinori Ono was instrumental in reviving the SF series for 4 when Capcom upper management wanted to leave it dead. He's not around anymore though, so I don't know who is spearheading development of 6, or how much effort Capcom would put into it. You know Capcom, it'd be nice if we could get a new Darkstalkers or Rival Schools game.

Well they are relaunching those in some 10 pack of games.

After SF5 not sure I want a 6th one, and if they do launch it, it better have an arcade mode out of the box, not patched in 1 year later.
