Chinese technology conglomerate Tencent has announced that it has grown its gaming empire even further with the acquisition of two U.S.-based companies today, Turtle Rock Studios and its parent, Slamfire, Inc.
Turtle Rock Studios is best known as the studio behind the cooperative zombie shooters Left 4 Blood and Back 4 Blood, the latter of which released in October 2021 as a spiritual successor to the former classic published by Valve. The acquisition will have “no effect” on Back 4 Blood nor the studio’s operations, according to a press release shared by Tencent.
