Tesla’s beautiful but long-delayed electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster, will come with the option of a SpaceX package that allows the vehicle to achieve 0 to 60 MPH acceleration in just 1.1 seconds. This has been confirmed by a plaque accompanying the Tesla Roadster prototype exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, which explained that the SpaceX package would add cold-air rocket thrusters to the rear of the car for enhanced performance. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently tweeted that the production version of the Tesla Roadster would look even better than the prototype.

SpaceX package.
That would be the rocket attached to the cars rear by a huge elastic band.
Unfortunate side effect, it only achieves 1.1s 0-60mph vertically and does it backward.
When asked what happens afterward, Elon Musk gave no comment.

This has got to be a right crock lol.

I guess if the only thing you care about is 0-60 you could make it work. With a lot of caveats. Roadster was never going to be a mass production vehicle, so why not.

I'm ready to read about what Florida Man can do with this, really.

What the heck.. cold air thrusters... are these compressed air tanks built into the chassis that can be recharged and have a "rocket" nozzle for acceleration. This is so bonkers... can you imagine the stress on the frame alone.. and the effect if one gos off after an impact. Crushing the occupants.

Elon is leveling up by becoming a meme. (At least in his own mind.)

This from the man who brought you home use flamethrowers... and the boring company.. He is if anything a visionary not afraid of pursue the unknown and the dreams.

Great, now they will probably remake the movie “Hooper” using one of these.
