Exotic Ethernet switches aren’t the only interesting new products that audiophiles can check out in their never-ending quest for heightened sound quality.



Over on the Audiophile Style forums, a user by the name of darkforce has shared what they are claiming to be the world’s first NVMe M.2 SSD developed for audiophiles. The storage device, which leverages 3D NAND flash, features specialized components that include a CCHD-957 oscillator from Crystek Corporation and Audio Note Kaisei Series electrolytic capacitors.



“Almost a year in the making, the world’s only NVMe M2 SSD designed for audiophiles and music lovers,” darkforce wrote. “Designed from ground up, co-develop with controller manufacturer using 3D NAND flash with pseudo SLC mode, external clock oscillator, 200% more PCB copper isolation, milspec PCB stiffness, 300% grounding surface, 5u gold...

I can see someone use special components in his machine to minimize electrical noise from it to get cleaner sound though there are better options then this, but hey if everything gamer with LED's gives more FPS why not this kind of crap.
 
I recall at one time I read about audiophile grade motherboards.

They were a thing for about 30 seconds. I actually reviewed one back in the HardOCP days. It was a Biostar board. It was part of its "Hi-Fi" series. (No, I didn't make that up.)

I dont know much about audiophile equipment, do they use sound card with analog out? Is it all digital? Is it claimed that these dives cause less noise on ground or the data buses somehow?

From what I gather it usually involves an external AMP and DAC

I'd say there's no official definition of "Audiophile" apart from just an enthusiast for audio equipment / music, usually chasing sonic reproduction accuracy above anything else.

It's not a lot different than any other niche, including performance home computing. Usually anything marketed as "Audiophile" is just an attempt to make people with more money than sense feel better about spending way too much money on something -- much in the same sense in computers anything marketed as "Gaming".
