The launch of the Steam Deck is being delayed by two months. Valve revealed the news in an email sent out to pre-purchasers today, which explained that components can’t reach its manufacturing facilities in time due to global supply chain issues such as material shortages. The first Steam Deck units will now be shipping in February 2022.



From Valve:



We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping February 2022. I got my email saying it's delayed by two months. I honestly believe it'll be longer than that.
 
The truth is, the Steam Deck was never planned for a 12/21 release (I mean, really, you are going to miss the biggest shopping day on the planet, Black Friday) and it was ONLY announced as such to gain excitement, partners, etc.

Consumers had fallen for the old rope-a-dope marketing 101!
