Warner Bros. has shared the first trailer for James Gunn’s cinematic take on DC Comics’ popular antihero team, the Suicide Squad. Despite being a direct follow-up to David Ayer’s 2016 film, which didn’t fare so good with critics, Gunn’s rendition ditches quite a bit of the original team (e.g., Will Smith’s Deadshot) for an even zanier group that comprises the likes of John Cena’s Peacemaker and Sylvester Stallone’s Nanaue—a talking, man-eating shark. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will release nationwide in theaters and IMAX on August 6, 2021 and be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.
