One of the biggest reasons not to update to Windows 11 relates to its revised taskbar, which, for some inexplicable reason, lacks some of the useful functionality that was provided by its preceding counterpart.

Luckily, Microsoft is slowly coming to its senses based on new preview build notes for Windows 11, which indicate that its taskbar will soon work more like Windows 10’s. Not only is the ability to drag and drop files into the taskbar coming back, allowing users to swiftly open files and pin apps as shortcuts, but there’s also signs of a new “overflow menu,” something that alludes to a way of easily changing the size of the taskbar.

I miss being able to right click on the taskbar and hit "show the desktop." I also hate the inability to copy and paste from the right click menu without extra steps. I usually use shortcut keys but I still hate it.

I hate not having a right click menu for or drag and drop search results, but this is something they already ruined in W10.
In Windows 11, I don't have a start period, because it just doesn't work, something went awry when installing NVIDIA drivers and it hasn't worked since.

Windows 11 has this "Mac OS X, Fisher Price my First PC" look and feel to it. Somehow, they've managed to make just about everything just a little bit worse than in the last version. I'll give it credit for one thing: It's incredibly fast on Alder Lake-S.

Wait, that is not possible in W11? I didn't even know that.
You have to right-click on the Start button to get the menu. Somewhat inconvenient but also something that most folks probably learn when they have the taskbar full of icons in previous versions of Windows.

Honestly, I haven't sat down much with that OS. Only one box in the house has it so far.

There are variants, but none that I'm willing to put my word behind yet.
I've been halfway looking but hadn't found anything that I'd recommend yet either - other than "just suck it up"
