Windows 11 is steadily gaining ground among Steam users, according to the distribution service's latest survey, which can confirm that Microsoft's somewhat controversial operating system grew in popularity over the course of June and is now used by 21.23% of Steam users who have opted in to sharing their configurations to help Valve gauge the kinds of hardware and software that its customers are using.

Eventually it will supplant windows 10, just like Windows 10 supplanted windows 7, despite everyone liking Windows 7 better.

It's just the way things go.

Microsoft can release successively worse and user hostile operating systems that just serve their corporate goals and harm the user experience, but eventually the old versions either go EOL, no longer getting patches, or start missing out on key features needed by users, and they are forced to "upgrade".
