If you’re a YouTube TV subscriber, don’t be surprised if you get a bigger bill next month. In its latest blog post, the world’s biggest video-sharing platform announced that it would be increasing its live-TV service to $64.99. That’s a $15 increase from its previous, $49.99 price.

The reason for the hike? More content. “We don’t take these decisions lightly, and realize how hard this is for our members,” the company explained. “That said, this new price reflects the rising cost of content and we also believe it reflects the complete value of YouTube TV, from our breadth of content to the features that are changing how we watch live TV.”

“YouTube TV is the only streaming service that includes a DVR with unlimited storage space, plus 6 accounts per household each with its own unique...

So live tv... With ads I assume?
Yeah that's worth zero dollars a month.
Someday, somehow someone will get the memo.

Color me shocked. They introduced something at a lower cost then ramp up the charges while we have multiple disasters filling the news... Oh and they announce it via a blog post no less.

Right cause this model of live TV with tons of ads and an ever increasing cost worked really well for the cable companies.

Over the air antenna, Netflix at $12/month, Amazon Prime and a YouTube app on my Roku and I've always got plenty to watch.

My parents once asked me to look into streaming services for them. I knew it was only a matter of time before the streaming services increased their prices and/or their internet provider (which is also their cable provider) capped their downloads. So, ultimately I told them to keep their cable/internet bundle. They are already used to the menu and dvr and have one bill. And I don't get a call every time they want to change the channel.

I have Directv and thought about changing to Youtube TV, but I'm glad I saw this. It would still be cheaper than what I'm paying now, but who knows when the next price increase will be. That, and I think I would miss my Sunday Ticket too much.

So, this means DTV Now (well, ATT Now?) will bump prices by $5 within the next few weeks, then Sling and Hulu will follow.

DTV Now had a huge advantage on their grandfathered plans being the only ones to carry Viacom stations (Nick is still somewhat popular with the kids). When YouTube announced they were offering it, I was intrigued at the $50 price point (as DTVNow is at $60 right now), but it seems I'm still getting the better deal, other than paying for a service that doesn't get used as much as it should...

I finally got the wife to let me ditch Dish. We have Disney+ (But haven’t watched it since Mando, but we got it with Verizon), Netflix, and Amazon Prime with HBO channel. And HBO comes and goes as we have stuff to watch.

Not sure how I’ll watch the superbowl, but apart from that I don’t miss it.

Get a little $20 flat antenna and slap it on the back of your TV and go OTA for your sports. Assuming there will actually be sports this year, but you know what I mean. And they sell little $20-30 OTA tuner/DVRs on AMZ you can use a USB drive on. I played with one for a bit, the interface was meh but it worked. My problem is I can only get 2/3 of the main OTA with an indoor HDTV antenna... I'm still thinking about slapping one on the roof.

May play with that. I live in the mountains though, I can’t get FM radio so I don’t hold out high hope for OTA Tv

Ah. Well, regular outdoor OTA antennas and extension poles are still a thing. Just no Radio Shack to buy them from...

Lol. Increased "by $15"? Even if the news story was that they increased it "to $15"

Absolutely ridiculous that anyone plays for this.
