Smart move on their part with safety precautions.
I'll compare this to my car sales job. People ask why do they put the dial shifters in newer cars and I tell them that the manufacturer in fear of being sued has to put fail safes in cars because some people forget to put their car in park when shutting the car off and if you shut the car off in anything but park it does it for you. As a society I feel we have to keep coming up with fail safes based partly on laziness.
