See while that's nice if you're spending that kind of money on a router chances are you don't need QOS limitations . Or you're spending WAY more money for a enterprise class network.

Also.. Asus KNOWS that 4 ports isn't enough. Do something this class but like an RT-BE88U unit. 4 2.5 gig ports 4 1 gig ports, 1 10 gig port and 1 10 gig SFP+ port. I mean geezus man there is SO much potential left on the table.

But I guess that would step on the RT-BE88U people like me...
 
I don't see the pricing, but the Rapture unit appears pretty decked out for ports. 10G WAN + 10G LAN is frankly as much as a consumer could use; for very limited regions that supply more WAN speed, ASUS really isn't in the right league - of course, consumers are highly unlikely to use >10Gbit this decade too.

One thing to consider is that this is a purpose built unit; for a household, it might very well outperform some conglomeration of SOHO+ equipment.

I like the unit... I actually love the aiprotect feature from ASUS for their routers. I think the top tier routers from vendors like this should have it all. Because users are like me. I have a network printer that's 100 meg, some other 1 gig devices, a tv that can do wired 100 meg as well. And like the flexibility of not having my 2.5 gig ports plugged up with 1 gig and less devices.

Hence why I got the router I specified. Also cost was nice compared to these big boys. (Normally in the past these have been in the 650 US range.)
 
Yeah, I'd have a switch on one of those LAN ports pretty quickly.
