I am just glad that gaming isn't an afterthought. I would love to tinker wkfh one of.those new top tier AI max top tier systems. Seems quite a few AI tools are free for them as well.
 
I'm sure we'll hear about the dual-cached 9950X3D2 at some point and it's more than likely just the usual chess match between Intel and AMD holding it back from being revealed now, alongside AMD wanting to focus sales on one chip at a time. There's enough leaks out there to suggest it exists and is ready to be launched so there have to be other factors as to why it wasn't announced.

Meanwhile, both AMD and Intel are all in when it comes to mobile applications and both announced new products in that sector.

This is because in the enterprise sector for non server compute, mobile compute rules the roost.

I'd love to see Qualcom com and say... oh.. 40 tflops... that's cute. Here's 400 tflops for less power, with more ram, and better performance, and 2x the expected battery life from our SOC.

that's fine in you don't require x86 compatibility

Becomes less and less relevant every day. Really only necessary for legacy compatibility any more... and if you are leveraging AI/Compute, it's probably not with something written in Cobol compiled for 80386 architecture

I know for my use case, I keep an x86 around for only two reasons:
-- I do still have some interface software for industrial equipment that i use occasionally - probably written in Visual Basic in the late '90s. It requires Windows x86. It still uses Telnet, and supports serial modems.
-- Games. Which still mostly requires x86, but (and thank you Gabe) requires Windows less and less anymore.

x86 rules the roost in healthcare technology, which is where I'm parked. We require Windows, and not emulated Windows. An SOC isn't going to work. At least not right now. Maybe for thin clients as Citrix is being adopted at higher rates.

Oh, maybe it was AMD's "announcements" that started down the sleep path. Sillycone is slowing down, RAM is crazy and not looking any better for 6 months to 2 years... And only real upgrades are for AI area, which needs to be double checked most of the time by a now bored human... Bored humans suck at their work...

Sad times for puter crap for at least a year?
 
My god this keynote was boring as hell, it only shows how far behind is AMD vs nvidia. nvidia's keynote was no better, but at least they had some funny "bloopers" in the end.
 
Considering AMD's stance on dual 3d v cache CCD's in a system... unless they have really sped up the interconnect between them... I just fail to see the benefit over a 9950x3d... which I got... and bemoaned not having dual 3d v cache. Sigh....
