After 10+ years of service my ShieldTV 2015 is bricked, its stuck on the nvidia logo and I haven't been able to put it in recovery mode. I've tried every tutorial I've seen, but no cigar. I never had a problem with it, few issues were corrected by updates, I even install custom firmware a few years ago, but went back to standard a few weeks later.

It took my wife years before she realized the Shield TV was handling the streaming services; she always questioned why it looked and perform so much better than other tvs in the house(some of them more expensive than the one in our bedroom, she loved it, it was as it wasn't even there, she just took it for granted.

Thing is, as much as I love it, I don't think I would get another one, even though every year since the pandemic, I said to myself this was the year the Shield TV would no longer fit my needs and every year it proved me wrong.

There has been rumors of a Shield TV 2 for years, maybe it's about time.

If you have any suggestions on how to bring it back to life, please reply.

Yeah I love mine. When it dies I already have a backup I can use. Hopefully even then I can still buy another one so I can keep a backup on hand.

Not sure how long I've had mine, not 10 years, but it's been a while. Pre-COVID for sure. Seems I bought it in 2021. Dang. Feels like I've had this thing forever.

I was about to "put it out of its misery" (store it), but tried to boot one last time just for kicks. I turned it on and it was stuck on the nvidia logo as usual; I went to the kitchen to grab a snack and when I came back there was the desktop screen in all its glory.

It's flaky though, a couple of times it got stuck in some app and can't go back to the main screen also I turned off the TV (it has CEC so the shieldtv also turns off) I turned it back later to show my wife and was greeted to a black screen, I unplugged the power cable, plugged it again and it booted normally. My wife if watching netflix right now.

There is no firmware update, should I go back to the previous one? How can I do that?
