I have noticed nothing appreciably better on my iPhone since the original jumped from Edge to 3G. Everything else - slightly incremental with an equal possibility of making things worse rather than better

Someone gave me iPhone 6S Plus for free (it was hardly worth $100 at the time). I tried using it to watch Youtube. The app behaved completely differently than the Android app and the screen quality was crap. Never used it seriously again. Sure, the newer ones might be better but nowhere near the prices they command.
