I found a couple of old MBs I didn't even remember I had, one for Core 8 series and one for Core 9 series. The 9 series works just fine. The 8 series beeps for memory, I tried several working DDR4 ram sticks but can't bring it up to boot. What can I use to clean the ram slots? Isopropyl alcohol doesn't seem to work. Someone suggested WD40, but I think that would make it worse.

Any ideas?

I usually just try air first, and if that's not enough - electrical contact cleaner (very similar to brake cleaner for the most part, also sold in auto parts shops - it may be identical but I feel better for not using brake cleaner on my computer)

Usually have a can of CRC QD on the shelf, but I think for computers CRC CO would be more appropriate since it's safer to use around most plastics.

The CRC QD vs CO distinction is worth keeping straight: QD is the quick-dry contact cleaner, while CO is the plastic-safe version, which matters on slots with thin plastic latches nearby. I'd still start with plain compressed air, held so you don't blast condensation into the slot, then go to contact cleaner on a swab or a short burst. One thing nobody's mentioned: let it fully evaporate before reseating, and don't scrub the contacts with anything abrasive—you'll remove the plating long before you remove the oxidation.

I spotted the bot. Did you?

Soft brissle tooth brush and iso alchy. Then compressed air to blow it all out.
