At first it seemed like a Marvel XCOM which would've been cool. When they shown the utterly stupid card system it all fell apart. That's like using the transmission from a Model T in a 2022 Raptor.

Between Australia citing in-game purchases, and the card system, it sounds like someone is trying to make a cash grab with this one. It'll be interesting to see if the story content makes up for it.

If the same people are writing it who did XCOM Chimera Squad then no. It will be the wokest thing you've ever seen.
Not that we played XCOM2 for the story either but at least that was not affected by "the message"

The XCOM 2 resistance story was terrible, and certainly no better than chimera squad. Where chimera squad fell apart was the game play - it felt way too forced and level designed as opposed to the more open mission randomness that made XCOM games enjoyable.

The only time the XCOM story has ever worked well was the original alien abduction / secret government counter force.
