AMD Confirms No Reference Designs for the RX 9070 Series and Official Benchmarks Show Up to a 42% Performance Increase over RX 7900 GRE

Very curious that both cards are compared to 7900 gre (rather than 7800xt, 7900xt, & 7900xtx)

The 7900gre was originally launched as a 1440p max card but it is now compared to both new cards at 4K

Another curiosity was that the 7900 gre had 2 launches (& hence 2 launch prices)

July '23 — limited launch for $650
'24 — global launch for $550

I thought the same thing as well. I have a feeling more cards will be included in future PR materials and might even get revealed on the 28th.
Rumors/hopes are 9070 for $549-599 and 9070 XT for ~650 or higher. There have been some very interesting stories regarding pricing for this over the last few months so it's really anybody's guess.

doesn't the 7900 GRE fit in between the 7800 XT and 7900 XT price and performance?

The fact that the 9070 isn't being compared to the 7900XTX is pretty telling and not in a good way.

They said back in 2024 that their new cards would not compete with the 7900xtx in performance.

If it was a high end card they would have called it a 9090 I assume; it's a mid range card from what I heard.
