Introduction Today, we are going small on our test bench with the new MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI. This is one of MSI’s latest ITX form factors, and the first ITX for us on the current AMD platform. Normally, we don’t associate an ITX motherboard with high performance, but this one has all the […]

I've learned quite a bit about B-series and ITX/mATX motherboards in the last few years and this looks like another nice one. Price does usually go up for the ITX boards themselves but this one isn't that bad. I like the heatsink layout and NVME fan setup as well.

Depending on one's needs there can be a ton of research to be done to fully check off all the features you might be after but it can be very rewarding once everything is put together and up and running. MSI is a little late to the game for the smaller AM5 boards but nice to see them getting out there now and with a nice one at that.

Thorough review on an anticipated mobo. the performance dips observed were disappointing. Do you think the Asus b850i has the same issue?

I'd say that would be a hard guess. Asus has a reputation of higher CPU voltages, which might increase performance slightly, but I have my doubts if that's true here. My guess is that they'd both be somewhat relative to each other, with barely noticeable real-world differences, but I could be totally wrong.

That B850i was a board I was looking at and almost pulled the trigger on, but I liked other options with the TUF B850M instead, but the B850i is solid looking as well. TBH, I would've preferred an MSI board as I've had really good experiences with them in recent years and didn't really want to mess with the Asus Q-Latch stuff, but ultimately the TUF board checked pretty much every box I was looking for, and the only B850 I/M board that did so.
