  1. TEAMGROUP Announces T-FORCE SIREN GD120S M.2 2280 SSD AIO Liquid Cooler

You can tell a difference between a passive cooled NVME drive vs an active cooled one?
  2. Sabrent and Phison Are Collaborating to Develop PCIe Gen5 SSD with Speeds Up to 14,000 MB/S

I have a 1TB 970 pro and a 2TB 980 pro in the same system if there was a particular comparison that would be useful
  3. Sabrent and Phison Are Collaborating to Develop PCIe Gen5 SSD with Speeds Up to 14,000 MB/S

I considered getting a 990 pro, but the move to TLC flash just flat out hurts. Better to stick with the MLC 970 pros and wait for Samsungs Gen 5 drive
  4. NVIDIA Launches #GiftRTX Sweepstakes: Win a GeForce RTX 4090 FE, GeForce RTX 4080 FE, or MSI Stealth 17 Laptop with GeForce RTX 4080

I made a few social media contests to enter contest myself. I also used my Instagram account for a guaranteed $10 off a purchase. Haven’t ever posted anything
  5. Daisy Ridley Comments on Her New Star Wars Film: “I Think People Will Be Very Excited”

You know what? I’ll take it. They’ve pretty much made it impossible to do Heir to the Empire, but there is plenty they can mine - just like they did with comics and marvel
  6. AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D Specs Have Seemingly Leaked

Hmm. I have a complete 2700X system sitting around... The 5500X3D might be the right price to for a drop in upgrade.
  7. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

It’s not like SLC doesn’t exist anymore - it is being mass produced and used as cache paired with slower flash and is used in the enterprise for things like database flash cache. To a certain degree, even if we don’t get the “good” stuff, TLC/QLC can be SLC if the controller just writes a...
  8. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

The earlier numbers really show why I’m so frustrated with current “performance” drives. I really don’t need a 4tb drive for my game drive, and I don’t need a 1tb drive for my OS. Instead of a 4tb TLC Samsung 990 pro, give me a 1.5 TB latency Optimized SLC gen 5 drive for games, and instead of...
  9. NVIDIA Is Reportedly Halting Production of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 Graphics Cards in Order to Prioritize Its SUPER Series

I wouldn’t hate the 4080super at 999. Which, of course, means they are going to price it at 1299
  10. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Rumored to Feature GDDR7 Memory, 384-Bit Memory Interface Width

Here we go: 2 generation skip 50X0 series stays AI only 60X0 series is coin mining for crypto boom 3.0 70X0 series is $3000 for the 7080 and it's only 50% faster than the 4090 because all of the better chips are going to AI
  11. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

Hmm, if they are warming up that fast even with the heatsink, might be time to go back to a case with a fan on the door again. Edit I also checked my steam drive. 10 games, 256GB, 142,780 files. That's 1.79MB average per file
  12. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Rumored to Feature GDDR7 Memory, 384-Bit Memory Interface Width

Jokes on us - they are going to skip the consumer 5000 series and only sell AI cards. They won’t bother to make anything better than the 4090 until AMD or Intel can make a competing product
  13. The Marvels Is a “Box Office Bomb,” Opening to Just $47 Million Domestically and Marking a New Low for Marvel Studios

I saw it once. My sister, who would have been 13 at the time, saw it around 25 times, but might have been more. Me liking it or not liking it was basically irrelevant to box office performance compared to her having watched it that many times.
  14. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

Lets take 3 theoretical drives, using flash latencies from a google search of "Flash Read Latency". Drive 1: Gen 3 drive of entirely low latency 3d SLC. 8 microsecond (us) read latency, 4,000MB /sec max transfer Drive 2: Gen 4 drive of entirely 3d TLC. 75us read latency. 7,5000MB /sec max...
  15. The Marvels Is a “Box Office Bomb,” Opening to Just $47 Million Domestically and Marking a New Low for Marvel Studios

If you want to see a review that doesn't call it trash, literally the first review on my google search of "The Marvel's review" The Marvels review: There's still some magic left in the MCU https://www.vox.com/culture/2023/11/10/23954984/the-marvels-review-brie-larson-iman-vellani-teyonah-parris...
  16. The Marvels Is a “Box Office Bomb,” Opening to Just $47 Million Domestically and Marking a New Low for Marvel Studios

I think it's the above average and below movies that are really going to get beat down in the streaming age. If the movie is some kind of amazing 9.5 / 10 type movie, or has stellar word of mouth, it's going to do fine in the theater. If it's, say, an 8/10 or less, people are going to wait for...
  17. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

Burst and Sustained matter, but does Gen 4 vs Gen 5 matter much? 7.5GB /sec vs 12GB /sec is a difference that may not make a difference. If you're reading 1MB, the actual read is going to be around .0001s (100 micro seconds), which means the drive latency starts to become a very sizeable chunk...
  18. CORSAIR MP700 PRO with Air Cooler 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

For single user scenarios (like those of us buying for gaming machines), does anything matter besides Queue depth 1 and thread 1 and random access latency? PCMark 10 Average access time and Crystal Disk Random Read and Write Q1T1 seems to be the most important measurements.
  19. Corsair Releases MP700 PRO PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 SSDs with Air Cooler, Water Block, and Other Cooling Options

That will teach me to not check the first page. That said, I'd love to see the review include Samsung drives. The Samsung 970 Pro 1TB beat the 980 pro in a number of latency benchmarks due to being MLC instead of TLC flash - would love to see how it stacks up today.
  20. Corsair Releases MP700 PRO PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 SSDs with Air Cooler, Water Block, and Other Cooling Options

what useful do we get out of a watercooled Gen 5 NVME like this? Sequential read / write may go way up, but random read, latency, etc, is basically unchanged or worse from Gen3, right?
