  1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Will Reportedly Be Announced on May 18

The 3060 Ti is going to be the optimal choice for 1920x1080. 3070 for 2560x1440. You are wasting money if you're getting a 3090 or 3080 Ti for anything less than UHD 4K. Expected SEP of the 3080 Ti is $1,000 USD, or $300 above the 3080.
  2. Warner Bros. Releases First Seven Minutes of Mortal Kombat

The "explanation" in how Earthrealm fighters gain power was the dumbest piece of narrative in the entire movie.
  3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Reportedly Ditching Original’s Real-Time, Turned-Based Combat System

You can implement D&D rulesets in a real time game. Most games are already doing dice rolls and other things of that nature in the background in real time. Nothing says D&D rules equals turn-based combat. That being said, I would prefer they stick with the original system in a KotOR remake.
  4. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Reportedly Ditching Original’s Real-Time, Turned-Based Combat System

This Youtuber is really banking on this attention right now, isn't he? I will believe it when we get something concrete. Until then these Youtubers can bugger off.
  5. ASUS’ 43-Inch ROG Strix XG43UQ HDMI 2.1 Gaming Monitor Will Be Available In May

Probably does what the PG27UQ does: Setting 144 Hz forces 4:2:2 chroma subsampling with 10-bit color, which cuts required bandwidth by one-quarter. 120 Hz 8bpc and 98 Hz 10bpc can still use RGB. EDIT: Scratch the above. The product page says this monitor is using DSC, so it can do RGB with...
  6. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Expected to Cost Around $1,099

My CPU peaked at about 220W when I was stress testing my 5 GHz all core with AVX in Prime95. It hovers right around 100W when gaming. Those must have been some crazy overclocks if it was seeing 300W. I'm pulling around 400W right now on my 3090, but I have not tried overclocking it yet (just...
  7. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Expected to Cost Around $1,099

    I'm running a 3090 and 9900K on a 750W PSU just fine.
  8. FCC Asks Public to Use Its Internet Speed Test App

CompuServe represent. Had Prodigy before that, but CompuServe offered more local phone numbers to connect to.
  9. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake in Development at Aspyr Media

Aspyr also brought Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy to the Switch and PS4.
  10. Sony Announces Availability and Pricing for 2021 Television Lineup

I've recently owned two Sony TVs and they both reliably died exactly 3 years after the date of purchase. I have not even considered buying another Sony TV since.
  11. Newegg Begins Accepting Payments with Dogecoin

So Newegg makes this decision when Doge was holding around $0.40 USD for just two days. Well now it is already half that price 3 days later and it is still dropping. I wonder how long it will take Newegg to reverse this decision.
  12. Microsoft Developing Completely Redesigned Store App for Windows 10

Even for the applications that are small in size I can still download something, install, and manage it myself often quicker than the simple process of downloading something small from the Microsoft Store takes. Their deployment system sounds really good on paper, but it fails to deliver in...
  13. Microsoft Edge Getting New Performance Mode That Optimizes Memory, CPU, and Battery Usage

Chromium is still a memory hog. Good to see Microsoft is actually doing something about it in their fork. I had to work with 16GB of memory for a little bit, down from 32GB, due to a motherboard issue and I was running out of memory with Chrome open just doing things I normally do. How...
  14. Spider-Man Films Coming to Disney+ Following “Unprecedented” Deal between Disney and Sony Pictures

Seriously. 9 months or less is the typical turnaround time for a movie to hit video, so what is so special about this deal? If studios are not releasing movies on streaming concurrently with theaters these days, or within weeks thereafter, then they are still living in the past.
  15. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Expected to Cost Around $1,099

$100 over my expectations. I still expect it to be right at the $1,000 mark when it releases in the States. How do you know that the 6900 XT is faster when the 3080 Ti isn't even out, yet? Regardless, we know that the 3080 Ti is using the full fat chip from the 3090, so we can expect...
  16. Free-to-Play Games on Xbox No Longer Require an Xbox Live Gold Membership for Online Multiplayer

About time. It's been this way forever on PlayStation since Sony started requiring PS+ for commercial multiplayer games.
  17. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake in Development at Aspyr Media

Is it a remake, or an updated re-release in the vein of the KOTOR II version that they recently made for digital platforms? I'd be happy either way. The first game doesn't have nearly as many bugs or missing content as the second one, but it would still be nice for it to get the same kind of...
  18. NVIDIA Considers GeForce RTX 30 Series Its Best Launch Ever

I know Samsung supplies a SoC called Exynos for their own phones and some of Apple's. It's built on a separate low power 8nm node. The node NVIDIA uses is unique, though. They also have their DRAM and V-NAND fabs. Samsung is #2 to TSMC, I'm just not very knowledgeable about everything they...
  19. Microsoft Developing Completely Redesigned Store App for Windows 10

One of the things they're doing is allowing developers to upload Win32 apps without the need to be packaged in a MSIX. Reading the FAQ on MSIX is hilarious because in my experience, none of the things they boast about have been true. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/overview
  20. Talks Between Microsoft and Discord Have Reportedly Fallen Through

They reportedly got 3 other offers, but turned them all down.
