  1. Ryzen Master, 3900x, I don't know where to start on this . . .

Looks like I am not the only one with the locked bios issue, this is on a different motherboard, C8H. Maybe an ASUS bug: https://www.overclock.net/forum/28060336-post350.html I have not spent the time to try to duplicate this yet, to scared :). Trying out a new bios plus Radeon 5700XT
  2. AMD Ryzen 4000's info leaked ?!?

With more skews for the desktop I can see why the greater than 8 core chips took TR numbering. So will TR start at 16 core and up to 64? Seems like a lot of possible skews.
  3. Ryzen Master, 3900x, I don't know where to start on this . . .

I’ll just do a video, tried to capture it with images but I messed up or the bios changed settings or what ever. Maybe I just imagine it all, just very unexpected and kinda bazaar. If I can not replicate, will let you know. Will most likely be the weekend.
  4. Ryzen Master, 3900x, I don't know where to start on this . . .

Well that is good news, hopefully a very isolated case. Tempted to do a video of this. If anyone else gets this behavior will do.
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Video Card Review

I agree 100%, also appreciate Nvidia taking that hard route. If they really come through with Ampere, sign me up.
  6. Nvidia had been researching ray tracing for over a decade.

Very interesting and how hard it is to do this plus the risk Nvidia made with having huge costly dies with vary little game software support. AMD should be thanking Nvidia for breaking the ice so to speak on this. Still as a consumer it was also a letdown when delivered, costly and the benefits...
  7. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Video Card Review

Even with all the price reductions - I think prices are still too high. Once again Ray tracing puts the hurts on performance if max settings is the goal but do believe usable settings are there to get the benefits out of Ray Tracing. So is it worth $200 more than the 2070 Super? 10%-15%...
  8. Editorial: Are Socket AMD BIOS's Too Fat?

Well I would love a lite version, keyboard only plan blue background etc. Spent much time in the past with the blue glow shining on my face.
  9. Ryzen Master, 3900x, I don't know where to start on this . . .

I was able to get out of the lock that Ryzen Master had over the bios. Initially took pictures capturing behavior but weird stuff happened while I could not change memory timings in the bios, the memory clock speed changed during the capturing so could not show continuity between the images...
  10. Ryzen Master, 3900x, I don't know where to start on this . . .

Right up front -> Ryzen Master overrides bios memory settings that even changing bios settings and saving them, even clearing the cmos, what you set in Ryzen Master turns up what is being set at after the initial setting of the bios. o_O After stabilizing system and getting into windows and...
  11. Editorial: Are Socket AMD BIOS's Too Fat?

These pads I say are roughly equivalent to Artic Silver 5 temperatures. They are reusable, this is about the fourth time CPU was removed and reinstalled, 1700x -> 2700 -> 3900x and yes the same pad. They don't degrade when you do, nor degrade due to time. Very consistent in performance and not...
  12. Editorial: Are Socket AMD BIOS's Too Fat?

lol, yep one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CK9SHZG/?tag=thefpsreview-20 Did not know if motherboard would support the 3900x well enough for me to keep so popped her in and it works well even with the thermal pad. Just completed memtest run at 3466mhz with 4 dims and it passed...
  13. Editorial: Are Socket AMD BIOS's Too Fat?

Loved this article. Now for AMD this will maximize CPU sells because they have a much bigger crowd with motherboards that can take the new CPU. So for AMD having backwards compatibility increases sells. For motherboard makers they instantly have competition from their previous products so...
  14. RTX 2080 SUPER Falls between TITAN Xp and TITAN V, according to FFXV Benchmark

If the price is lowered to like $599, that would not be too bad.
  15. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review New BIOS Performance Tested

3900x with all cores loaded using Aida64 stress test, all cores clock at 4.1ghz with some variations at 1.36v. Bios is using PB only. Doing single thread on Cinebench 20, up to 4.525 ghz depending upon core. So far no issue using D.O.C.P for ram at 3200mhz 4 sticks 32gb PCIE4 works with the...
  16. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review New BIOS Performance Tested

Lol, definitely a board to love to hate or is it hate to love? Anyways have a 3900x to go into her now. If it does not work out then an update will be needed. Now please update your x570 reviews pace sir.
  17. 5700XT 50th edition

Did some OCing with the 5700 XT 50th AV, captured it here. I normally use FPS monitor to capture the parameters but that program just crashes with the 5700 XT so I had to do something else. Anyways a custom fan curve, Frequency OC to around 2100mhz, +25% power limit and it has no issue...
  18. 5700XT 50th edition

Have 5700 XT 50th AV installed. With more aggressive fan curve and +25% power limit, it maintains clock speed in the high 19xxmhz GPU clock speed and sometimes goes over 2000mhz. Did not touch the Wattman Frequency or Voltage yet. This is exceeding rated Boost frequency but then I am allowing it...
  19. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review New BIOS Performance Tested

That is a well written piece. Also seems like all generations of AM4 motherboards are having similar issues which must put a strain on the bios making teams dealing with not only the new mother boards but all A4 models in the last 3 years. I have a 3900x on order, will try it on the ASUS...
  20. AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 Video Card Review

This review from all the ones I've read is the best one yet. Great background information was included which can be reference in the future. Good stuff indeed! Looking at many reviews, the $399 price point AMD set basically gave roughly a 1080 Ti performance level with it. Now that is moving...
