  1. New NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Gaming Benchmarks Show What a $999 GPU from 2013 Can Do Today

Inflation calculator tells me that $1000 in 2011 is 1371.11 today. With a 4090 costing 1599, top tier price has increased 14.3% ahead of inflation. How much have wafer prices increased since 2011 (I’m not going to try to chase that one down). Edit. Could also say “Titan level of performance...
  2. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Returning to Cinemas for 25th Anniversary

At its core there are some solid parts to phantom menace. The light saber fights were very very good compared to the original trilogy, and a number of scenes were just too long, not specifically bad. Not surprised that it could be turned into a good 75 minute movie
  3. A “New Version” of X-Files Is In Development at Disney, Produced by Black Panther Director Ryan Coogler

The real "adjustments for modern audiences" made to Battlestar Galactica really have little to do with making starbuck a Woman. The big ones, from original to remix that stand out off the top of my head - there are certainly more that I'll think of after I click post: -Adjusted everyone's...
  4. YouTube Music and Premium Crosses 100 Million Subscribers

I can’t think of much on you tube I’m willing to watch the ads for. There is nothing I’ve seen that I’d be willing to pay for
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Delivers Minor Gaming Improvements in New 3DMark Benchmarks

I have a sure fire way to determine the release date of Blackwell: If I buy a 4080 S, Blackwell will be released early Nov 2024. If I wait for the 5090, Blackwell will be released at CES 2026
  6. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Delivers Minor Gaming Improvements in New 3DMark Benchmarks

I’m really toying with the idea of upgrading my 3080ti to a 4080 S as it’s over double the points per day in folding@home for less total power draw. It really depends on a question I can’t answer - when does the 5090 come out and how much will my 3080ti be worth when the 5000 series drops?
  7. Rumor: NVIDIA Planning GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER/Ti (24 GB) and New TITAN RTX (48 GB) Following Delay of GeForce RTX 50 Series

Blackwell would need to be really delayed - say Q4 2025 to justify dropping money on a 4090ti for non work scenarios
  8. Launch Day Sales of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT Revealed by Mindfactory

I bought a 4070 ti super. Probably should have waited for the 4080S, but there is a Folding@Home race NOW, not next week. I wonder just how loose the microcenter return policy is?
  9. Microsoft Introduces AI Copilot Key for Windows 11 PCs: “First Significant Change to the Windows PC Keyboard in Nearly Three Decades”

When I was doing PC support a long time ago, I used to use the windows key. Haven't been using it much in the past 10+ years. For launching applications, I've got firefox on quick launch and I right click steam in the tray and choose the game (I usually only play 1-2 games at a time)...

  11. Apple Immersive Video Is a New Entertainment Format That Delivers 180-Degree 3D 8K Recordings for Apple Vision Pro Users

I don't think anyone expected any particular media type to live forever. I wouldn't even bet that streaming will last forever.
  12. Apple Immersive Video Is a New Entertainment Format That Delivers 180-Degree 3D 8K Recordings for Apple Vision Pro Users

Blu-ray won the HD media war, so you can’t say they never succeed.
  13. A New Report States That Microsoft Is Requiring a Minimum of 16 GB of Memory for AI PCs

Yes and no. I’m doing quite a bit of work on my 2GB raspberry pi 4s. Works great for Kodi on Xbian, pihole, etc.
  14. Early Prices For Custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series Graphics Cards Show Increases of up to $100 over MSRP

Given that the 4080s weren't selling terribly well, Scalping isn't likely to be highly profitable. Can't scalp the TI Super for much premium without getting into 4080 S range, and can't scalp the 4080 S for much without getting into the old 4080 price.
  15. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series Is up to 12% Faster than Standard Models, According to Leaked Performance Comparisons

There are more Cuda cores on the 4080 super, in addition to the faster clocks

  17. NVIDIA CES 2024 Announcements – Including GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs

I would have called it the 4070 Ultra instead of TI Super. They've used the Ultra branding before and then it doesn't end up with a double modifier.
  18. Twitch Bans Implied Nudity While Streaming

If MySpace still exists, no way Twitch disappeared
  19. Internet Plans Lower than 1 Gbps Are Obsolete, Says Florida-Based Fiber Provider

I'm also using 1gbit FiOS, but I so rarely see above 500mbit that I'm not sure it's worth the money. Even downloading from steam I generally only see 600-700mbit unless I start the download at like 1am. And, to be honest, if I'm downloading a game at 1am, I'd be fine with 50mbit, because I'm...
