  1. Speculation about AMD’s Continued Commitment to High-End Consumer GPUs Increases as More Rumors Circulate

I think upscaling is awesome, thing is that I hoped it would bring new life to older cards or make mainstream cards 4k capable (which for a little while, it did). But it ended up being pretty much mandatory on high end cards with newer titles just for them to be playable. Long gone are the...
  2. Speculation about AMD’s Continued Commitment to High-End Consumer GPUs Increases as More Rumors Circulate

Agree to disagree, implementation, it doesn't matter how much die space you use, it's how you use it efficiently. You could argue that AMD is wasting die space with its ray accelerator as it's not as efficient as nvidia or even intel.
  3. Speculation about AMD’s Continued Commitment to High-End Consumer GPUs Increases as More Rumors Circulate

I think it has more to do with the implementation, rather than the die space. AMD doesn't really have dedicated RT cores a la nvidia/intel. They mostly make the compute units to do the heavylifting. Same goes for FSR.
  4. Speculation about AMD’s Continued Commitment to High-End Consumer GPUs Increases as More Rumors Circulate

As some others have pointed out, this is not the first time AMD has focused on the mainstream market, but it really hasn't payed off, AMD hasn't been able to gain significant market share regardless. On a sidenote, where are all the multchip GPUs? there should be cards from intel, amd and even...
  5. Speculation about AMD’s Continued Commitment to High-End Consumer GPUs Increases as More Rumors Circulate

I don't think AMD has to release a RTX5900 Killer, but if they can stay neck and neck with say a RTX 5700 for a good price, that would be something. And please fix RT and FSR. BTW nvidia has been selling its top tier card like hotcakes for generations they have been historically hard to find...
  6. NVIDIA Launched the World’s First GPU 25 Years Ago

Well, nvidia invented the term GPU, so... It is applied to programmable graphics processors or something like that. The Geforce 256 was the first programmable graphics unit, hence the name, it's a marketing term anyway.
  7. NVIDIA Launched the World’s First GPU 25 Years Ago

I remember I also had an intel i740, I used to play Viper Racing on it.
  8. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Said to Consume Up to 600 Watts, with GeForce RTX 5080 (400 Watts) Delivering 10% Increased Performance over GeForce RTX 4090

As long as AMD can't compete at the high end, nvidia will continue to dictate price.
  9. NVIDIA Launched the World’s First GPU 25 Years Ago

My first video card was an ATI 3d Rage Pro, very nice actually, then I got a TNT2 and stayed nvidia for my main gaming pc ever since. I did have several ATI/AMD cards and even a Vodoo3 and Voodoo2 but my main rig has always been nvidia. I almost forgot I also had a Matrox M3d. It was quite good...
  10. NVIDIA Launched the World’s First GPU 25 Years Ago

January, 1999 NVIDIA announces initial public offering of 3.5 million shares of common stock. If I could turn back time...

Ooooh so that's why it went down, makes sense. :p;) First Sharky Extreme then [H], I'm seeing a pattern here :);)
  12. NVIDIA Launched the World’s First GPU 25 Years Ago

No it wasn't, the Geforce256 was the first nail in 3dfx coffin.
  13. Anandtech Sails Off Into the Sunset

I use both but I do prefer written articles.
  14. Half-Life 2 RTX Gets One-Hour Gameplay Video from Gamescom 2024 and Nova Prospekt Trailer from NVIDIA

BTW I'm not sure I agree with the analogy. RTXRemix is a lot more than just adding fancy RT effects, as I mentioned, you can modify/add models, textures, add particle effects and even animations. You can even add DLSS and Reflex. It's the ultimate MOD tool. Even better, I think it just got open...
  15. Anandtech Sails Off Into the Sunset

At a time they focused a lot on servers, then they mostly switched to mobile/apple stuff. They stopped doing video card reviews ages ago. For a long time they were the TO GO site for tech articles. Be it GPUs/CPUs/mobos/storage, etc. That was the main reason I went there in the first place...
  16. Half-Life 2 RTX Gets One-Hour Gameplay Video from Gamescom 2024 and Nova Prospekt Trailer from NVIDIA

Actually, with RTX Remix you can put higher res textures and models.
