Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

I will if it offers a significant new API feature like DX10-12 as happened over the years but otherwise with W11 I wasn't in any rush and nobody really knows what's in store for 12. At this point as I'm getting older, I'm just tired of having to learn new GUIs and where they buried the settings...

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

True enough but they do have some odd cadence planning going on ever since XP ended. I do remember how they'll often have multiple OSes in development at the same time and depending on which reaches the goal quicker, that can affect what gets released like what happened with Vistas and 7. I...

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

I haven't tried it in a server environment, but that does sound like a nightmare, but I've mostly had good experiences with it on my rig and laptop. I wouldn't even have it, though, but both came with it, the rig started as a prebuilt, which came with it, and then I transplanted various parts to...

Resizable BAR Could Be Left Turned Off by Default by NVIDIA Drivers on Some Systems

I can't remember if it's official or not, but is has been around for at least a decade and widely used. Pretty sure there was something official a very long time ago and then NVIDIA dropped it and but allowed the community to continue with its own version. I first heard about it sometime around...

Resizable BAR Could Be Left Turned Off by Default by NVIDIA Drivers on Some Systems

So finally spent some time testing on the laptop. Updated the driver to 576.88 and installed the latest Profile Inspector and adjusted the settings. Along the way, I also found yet another toggle for the dGPU (between mux/optimus NV CP and Windows, it's quite the adventure finding all the...

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

For me it's usually reinstalling the apps and redoing all the various settings. Not brain surgery by any means, but my day job has enough tedious details for me to keep track of that I don't normally want to come home and deal with more, but I do in stages. For instance, tonight I put about an...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

Yeah, and I still get a little stressed over 100-150GB installs but I know that usually pays off with nice cut-scenes or texture packs. Thankfully some 4TB NVMe drives have begun dropping in price over the last 12-24 months. Happy to have one each in the 9800X3D rig and laptop.

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

Forgot to mention that while the 5800X3D still has W10 I've been putting that one off until the last minute because I plan to do a complete reinstall on that one since it's been using the same OS drive from my 3700X build. I'm just so tired of doing complete re-installs of everything on my OS...

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

My laptop and 9800X3D both have W11 and it's overall been okay. As usual some things are moved around which I don't like, such as having to jump through multiple menus to get to refresh/HDR stuff and something else I can't remember right now. Indiana Jones was not supporting HDR on laptop for a...

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

I went ahead an ninja edited the W11 release date in the post. Not something I usually do this late after a post but it does complete the circle of release dates mentioned.

Windows 12 Is No Longer Expected This Year as Microsoft Prepares 25H2 Build Update for Windows 11

Agreed. I forgot to include Windows 11's release date in the article, 2021, so yeah, they need to give it at least a couple more years until the next nightmare.

Resizable BAR Could Be Left Turned Off by Default by NVIDIA Drivers on Some Systems

You have to use NV Profile Inspector and go to the "common settings" section. It's not something you can do via CP or anything else that I'm aware of (odds are there's a regedit somewhere though). The one thing I will say is totally idiotic of NVIDIA is that this should be a toggle in either...

Resizable BAR Could Be Left Turned Off by Default by NVIDIA Drivers on Some Systems

Definitely saw some improvement for TW3 and Indiana Jones on the 4090. After enabling, while I was able to see over 70 or 80 FPS I decided to cap it @60 FPS on that rig to minimize power draw/heat/noise/etc. For these games, things are much smoother on that rig now and it's very quiet on top of...

Huh, didn't know or forgot that. I guess that also explains why the 5070 Ti isn't getting a bump up as well since it would further encroach on the 5080 and both use the same die.

Intel Nova Lake CPUs Rumored to Include Server-Grade bLLC Cache Design Similar to AMD’s 3D V-Cache Technology and Hybrid iGPU Architecture

Fixed. D**n those clumsy fingers! Sadly, calling them undead might not be far from the truth as more nails keep getting put into the coffin. The headline may currently state 67%, but according to the report, it's expected to drop to 55% by the end of the year...
