Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

Yeah the economics of AAA gaming appear to be a trainwreck in the current era. Either you appeal to 50 million people or you're a flaming dumpster fire of a failure, cause the game cost a billion dollars to make for some reason despite good indie or AA devs getting 80-90% of the way there (in...

Horizon Hunters Gathering Is a Three-Player Co-Op Coming to PC and PS5

Oh boy, "Hunter's Gathering" is written in zany "theme park" font. Stick a fork in it people, game is DOA.

Changing of the Guard at Xbox: Phil Spencer Retires, Sarah Bond Steps Down, Asha Sharma Takes Over as CEO of Microsoft Gaming

AI person stepping up to head Xbox? Some rando passing over Sarah Bond (who decided to quit I guess) for the position? Oh boy Microsoft's Gaming Division is cooked. All the same, its not been doing great over the last several years anyhow, so maybe a shake-up is in order. However not sure if...

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews are trickling in...

-I know, but the narrative is structured like there is a rush, even if there really isn't. So if you take your time to explore things after the game makes a lot of noise about V dying, there is some dissonance there.

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews are trickling in...

Playing the game now and it's been an interesting read through this thread. The game is stable as a rock for me on my main system, FSR4.0 and FSR3.1 framegen are fantastic and deliver ~150fps with everything but PT maxed with very clean image quality. The game narrative seems to be my...

AMD Confirms Next Xbox Set to Launch in 2027 with a Custom RDNA 5 SoC, and Valve’s Steam Machine Is on Track for Its 2026 Release

At this rate, we may very well see any and all consumer stuff exist only on paper until 2028...

Horizon Hunters Gathering Is a Three-Player Co-Op Coming to PC and PS5

Best thing that can come from this game is Sony dropping the price on Forbidden West to a reasonable level to gin up interest before launch.

The 2026 Game Thread: You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy Edition

Ok, two new games to play: Cyberpunk: Finally getting around to this one and so far I am very... Whelmed. It's not a bad game, and it is slowly growing on me, it just feels like another game I've played before. It's early in the story, but already I'd say that Deus Ex did the whole...

NVIDIA Is Rumored to Be Developing a New Flagship Blackwell-Based GPU, Possibly RTX 5090 Ti or TITAN, for a Q3 2026 Release

This is the kind of rumor that can only be dreamt up by people who make their living pedaling rumors. The once thriving consumer GPU scene is a wasteland, we're not likely to see anything until 2027 *if not even later* depending on when all the AI nonsense dies down or manufacturing catches...

Valve Updates That It Needs to Solidify Memory and Storage Costs Before It Can Commit to Pricing for the Steam Machine, Controller, and Frame

-Yeah, possible the cost of backing out of the agreement was less than the RAM companies stood to make on selling an equivalent amount of RAM at market value, so the maths mathed and they would rather pay a penalty to valve than lose out on that sweet AI revenue.

Valve Updates That It Needs to Solidify Memory and Storage Costs Before It Can Commit to Pricing for the Steam Machine, Controller, and Frame

Surprised they don't have supply agreements in place already, unless the suppliers told them to take a hike unless they pay an updated cost.

The 2026 Game Thread: You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy Edition

Alright, Psychonauts 2 is a wrap. Fun, goofy game overflowing with personality. Was refreshing to play a pretty straightforward platformer again. While the visuals and production value was fantastic (that M$ money hard at work) and each of the characters minds had a very unique visual style...

The 2026 Game Thread: You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy Edition

Ok, finally started Cyberpunk 2077 (base edition, no PL). It's. Ok. I guess. It gives me the option to play as a corpo fem boy which is... I mean hey I can so will. Takes a while to get going, after 4 hours it feels like the plot is actually starting to pick up with the "heist gone wrong"...

The 2026 Game Thread: You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy Edition

Beat the Imperial Guard campaign for DoW2 Retribution. Fun and easy enough, nothing to write home about. One of those "one size fits all playable factions" type thing which is fine, the Imp Guard campaign seemed to fit into the plot fairly nicely. I'll leave it installed and at least goof...

AMD Could Be Prepping a Flagship Next-Gen GPU Featuring 96 Compute Units with Memory on a 512-Bit Bus

    - Yup, if you can light a scene with a simple AI "shader" pass instead of doing all the dirty work of actually casting rays and such for a fraction of the computational cost with even 95% of the accuracy... why the hell would you waste your time with actual RT or even PT?

Prices for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Have Nearly Doubled Since November, Hinting That Inventory Is Becoming Scarcer

    - Honestly if you're at the 7900XT/4070Ti Super level of performance or above already, there really isn't much of a meaningful upgrade path until you hit the 4090 or 5090. It really comes down to what features you value and how fat your wallet is.

A Troubling Trend Is Growing as PC Hardware Manufacturers Cancel Orders Only to Repost the Same Product at a Higher Price

A Troubling Trend Is Growing as PC Hardware Manufacturers Cancel Orders Only to Repost the Same Product at a Higher Price
