2025 Game Thread - Anandtech Forums Are Dying Edition

It's a little late for this thread over here on the FPS forums, but with ATF having its issues or whatnot, I want to port the concept over. I'll start a 2026 thread once we're past Christmas. The idea is to identify 12 games that you will install, launch, and attempt to play during the course...

AMD FSR Redstone Is Coming To Town: ML-FSR For RDNA 4

The real test is whether or not this actually goes into any games (beyond COD slop).

Buyout Deal Worth $82 Billion Could See Netflix Gain Access to Warner Bros. Game IPs Such as Batman, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat

    - They're a load of fun if you're casually co-op gaming with your SO (if they're not really into games) or with young kids. They're simple, fun, have plenty of clean humor, etc. They are absolutely not some kind of transformative gaming experience though. A lot of their popularity comes from...

Buyout Deal Worth $82 Billion Could See Netflix Gain Access to Warner Bros. Game IPs Such as Batman, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat

Hopefully this means that WB will stop killing their successful gaming IPs with BS MTX/Live service nonsense. WB is such a weird publisher. They do a fantastic job maintaining the integrity of their IPs when making games, but then can't seem to let go of wanting to make live service slop...

CDPR Hopes to Finish the Upcoming the Witcher Trilogy Within Six Years, but Don’t Plan on Seeing Anything at This Year’s The Game Awards

While I look forward to TW4, especially after enjoying the hell out of TW3, I am a little worried by the cadence CDPR is looking for. I've seen SW mentioned in here and like that franchise I hope CDPR doesn't oversaturate the franchise with releases. Give each entry some time to breathe (not...

The more you know - thermal paste edition

I used to be on team "spread it thin with a credit card" but that was back in the naked die no heatspreader days. Now I just put a rice sized dab in the center of the heatspreader and I haven't had any temp issues in years. Might go over to X marks the spot though, just for thoroughness' sake.

AMD RDNA 3.5 Radeon 8060S iGPU Dukes It Out, and Bests, NVIDIA RTX 4070 and Many Other Mobile Graphics Solutions

Not sure why Valve didn't go in the Switch direction, they'd make something like the Aya Next (Deck 2) with a dock for TVs instead of the GabeCube. Cost on Strix Halo must be through the roof I guess.

Decent PC under $400 for kids and family

It's an alright baseline, especially because it appears to be built out of over the counter stuff (unlike a lot of the entry level Dell and HP stuff). Throw in a 9060XT 8GB for like $250 and you'd have a proper entry level PC going.

    Valve's NEW Steam Machine...

If the hype is anything to go by, the collective ****fit the internet will have when they realize GabeCube is more expensive than they thought for less performance than they thought is really going to be something.

    35% off @ $259.99 Intel Core Ultra 7 Desktop Processor 265K - 20 cores (8 P-cores + 12 E-cores) up to 5.5 GHz

-Bruh you're arguing on the internet, let it go. Frankly I'd always recommend the stronger GPU/Weaker CPU combo personally, can always increase IQ to make things GPU limited until a better CPU can be swapped in.

Early Black Friday Deals on RAM, NVMe Drives, GPUs, and More

@Peter_Brosdahl Maybe just include a quick description at the top of your posts with the links on what exactly is being linked to? Don't want to click to random Newegg links for PC components I'm not interested in. Just a suggestion.

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

Yeah its mind blowing that there is this level of industry demand and Intel can't get folks to fab at their plants. Like customers are literally willing to lose money on unrealized sales than even bother with Intel foundry services. And the US took a 10% ownership stake in this ****pile of a...

After Nearly $1 Billion in Crowdfunding and 13 Years in Development, Star Citizen Is Nearly, Nah, Who’re We Kidding, It’s Never Going to Happen

Look, say what you will but I salute Chris Roberts for somehow tapping into this gold vein and draining it for what it's worth. I mean, if people would throw a billion effing dollars at me for promises and ETAs you'd bet your [insert color of your own skin] *** I'd be doing the same thing.

AMD FSR Redstone Officially Launches for Radeon RX 9000 Series on December 10, Linux Developer Makes FSR 4 Available to Older GPUs

Lotta drama around Redstone/FSR 4/Backwards compatibility to RDNA2 etc. I'll just be happy to see Redstone in production and hope it levels the feature playing field a bit between AMD & Nvidia the next time I'm buying a card.

Valve’s New VR Headset “Deckard” Will Launch in Late 2025 for $1,200, It’s Claimed

-The hype around the Gabe Cube is getting to self destructive levels. The specs are out there, it's going to be a nice SFF box for your TV to play some indie games or maybe stream from your much more powerful primary PC. The specs are out there 28 RDNA3 CUs @ 110w is... Not a lot of...

Valve’s New VR Headset “Deckard” Will Launch in Late 2025 for $1,200, It’s Claimed

God help Valve if the frame costs $1200. Like Linux, we're going to have to listen to "this is the year of VR" **** for the next 50 years.
