Horizon Steel Frontiers Is a Cross-Platform MMORPG Project Being Developed by NCSoft and Guerrilla for PC, iOS, and Android

IDK what sci-fi has to do with it, unless you want to say strong female leads are science fiction :D

This is just a cheapshot used to shut down conversation by progs. "Oh, so you don't like strong female characters?" Implying that the person is a sexist. But it doesn't stand up to even the most basic scrutiny. Does the first game not have a strong female lead, or what? Then how come I liked that, if this is the 'true' reason for my dislike of forbidden west?

Look, if you didn't notice a step down in quality of writing from the first game, that's fine, I'm not telling you how to enjoy or whether you are allowed to enjoy the game, I'm telling you why I didn't like it, that's it.
Why are you changing the goal posts. You put out the feminist message as its failing now you're back pedaling to bad writing. I bet you have a black friend too right? Lol. Talk about a whoopsie.

This could be going from bad to worse. Not doing a post on this yet as there's not enough to back it but in the meantime, a 3rd game might not be happening and the reason this isn't getting a PS5 release it that Guerrilla is rumored to be making its own MMO instead.

Hm, I predict a Guerilla MMO to go exactly the same way as the Last of Us MMO by Naughty Dog.

So by your definition if I say the clutch is slipping in my car, then later say it has drivetrain issues, that's backpedaling?! No, it is using a broader definition of the issue.

Why would I even want to backpedal? I 100% stand by the fact that there is radical feminist messaging in HFW, which is at the root cause why the writing is so cringe.

And I go one further: Zero Dawn had some of it too, but it wasn't overt enough to ruin the experience, it was more subtle and wasn't a constant theme of almost every dialogue. But some of it was still very obvious, like the maligning of Olin for trying to protect his family.

I dont see it. But thats on me i suppose. I think of it as a grandfather with a preteen granddaughter who finds that sort of message empowering and encouraging her own self worth. Its like a John Wayne movie for young men. I guess you dont need to like it for the rest of us to appreciate it.

Yeah I tried to explain it in terms of sci-fi, but that works too. There's literally one scene that stood out at the end of the second game; everything else was a creative expression.

(a better example would be the new Dragon Age, and I felt even that was pretty well done)

-Im playing through Dead Space 3 right now and the game is woke as **** cause Visceral wrote all the white male characters to be inept *******s to the point where under represented minority space nerd with turbo PTSD Issac Clarke has to basically do everything himself.

Issac even emasculates the white male captain character by being such a necromorph killing badass his GF leaves him.

Video game writing constructing situations for the PC to actually engage with the gameplay is too woke and needs to be put to sleep.

Woke.

Funny never thought of DS3 that way but I only played it once, shortly after release, and never managed to complete another play through, although I can't count how many times I wanted to but stopped during the opening level after crashing on the planet. My biggest take away was the lack of real, new, content as so much seemed like a lackluster rehash of the first two. Plus it didn't help that they didn't upgrade to the latest DirectX, something that was heavily criticized by players and reviewers alike at the time.

Don't get me wrong, I do remember some new content and level designs, but not enough to make me want to go back. On that note, the rumors that EA was considering combining stuff from the 2nd and 3rd into another remake makes sense given what I've mentioned here, but that was cancelled not long after the first one was released (btw I did enjoy that one).

It's a shame because I would like to see another new game, instead of another remakem but I would also like to see another main character because I agree with @GodisanAtheist in regard to how his character ended up and was honestly a little shocked they relied on him for the 3rd game. His story should've be done and finished after the 2nd imho and even that game seemed a bit of a rehash of the 1st.

Back to Horizon and the more I hear of stuff like this, the less chance of a single player 3rd game seems likely.
Which is saddening, they really are magnificent games and the second one definitely set up the world for a finale!

Thats the mmorpg 200 alloys riding various giant transformers to battle the omnicron swarm that will invariably re seed the planet with hostile anti biological let's call them deceptions.

I hope all these rumors and brief clips are wrong, and they do commit to a 3rd single-player game. I'm fine if they stop single-player games after that, but I was really looking forward to a third game finishing the story.
