The "Browser Ate My Memory!" thread

I have some old Opera version that I installed probably back in 2018. Don't want to update since the newest version is supposed to be Chinese owned. The version I have is pretty good though. Still pretty responsive and for some reason, Youtube runs really well on it. But it also has the memory...

The "Browser Ate My Memory!" thread

I tried using it on my Haswell work PC. It would freeze occasionally which was annoying so stopped using it for more than 5 or 6 tabs. I have it available on Win8.1 too but I steer clear of it.

The "Browser Ate My Memory!" thread

I'm on Windows 8.1 (Core i7-3720QM Thinkpad 32GB RAM) and this hardware runs the OS pretty well. It's basically my internet browsing machine. One great reason for staying on Win8.1 is no pesky updates forcing a restart. HOWEVER, since Firefox is my preferred browser, it leaks RAM regularly...

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/investigation-of-single-thread-cpu-thoughput-cycle.2633808/ Lion Cove topping the IPC chart. If Intel had fixed the latency in Arrow Lake Refresh, I could've gotten more life out of my investment.

    Yep. Looking great!

Nova Lake may actually hit the mark!

290K is back. Now supposedly launching in May as Intel engineers work on "polishing" it further. Could be it gets some special treatment to reduce die temps, contrary to their stupid 14900KS that they recommended should be delidded.

level1tech watching three ASROCK AM5 mobos like a hawk!

I do not want to find out how AMD treats its customers in UAE. Most likely, AMD will say, go to seller which is Amazon UAE and Amazon will say, sure, we'll send it back to Amazon UK (from which they got it) and then who knows how long that will take.

level1tech watching three ASROCK AM5 mobos like a hawk!

Would help if AMD would create a quick little tool or add functionality in Ryzen Master to check the health of the CPU. Shouldn't theoretically be a problem for them to check through Windows whether the CPU is being tortured by unnecessarily high voltages or temperatures and warn the user to...

Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

Two tricks I know. I hope no one abuses them. Here goes: As soon as you wake up, imagine that what you want and count from 50 to 1. Next day, do the same thing but count 40 to 1. And keep doing this until you have to count 10 to 1. Just before you are falling asleep, imagine that what you...

Nova Lake may actually hit the mark!

Oh that's easy. All those without Arrow in their knee just grab a 245K or 245KF  Especially those who have sworn never to buy Intel again :P Look, think about it rationally. You are "investing" in your and your children's future PC computing evolution and maybe even revolution...

Nova Lake may actually hit the mark!

I'm looking forward to them announcing the 295KS Mega Plus Super Rare Limited Edition, as a consolation prize for people who wanted a super binned Arrow Lake without buying a whole 285K tray of CPUs and going through the pain of binning themselves.

Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

That is Debbie Marr's CPU. The lady knew how to make a CPU :P I'm still on a 3720QM Thinkpad. Partly because I love how well Win8.1 runs on it (yes, hard to believe but it's amazing) and partly because of the lovely keyboard. Honestly, you can't go wrong with a Thinkpad's keyboard. Also...

Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

9955HX is the first DTR AMD CPU I've seen easily available for me locally. I think the X3Ds have raised AMD's profile in the DIY market so much that even diehard Intel sellers are making more AMD options available. However, the 275HX is available roughly for the same price with a 5070 than the...
