Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

ST P: Max single thread frequency multiplier for P-core NT P: Max multithread frequency multiplier for P-core E: Max frequency multiplier for E-core LPE: Max frequency multiplier for low power E-core LLC: Not sure about this. My guess is that this is the ring bus frequency multiplier. But could...

Nova Lake may actually hit the mark!

https://www.overclock.net/posts/29555951/ That's an insane latency decrease for LPDDR5. Nova Lake could have desktop RAM latency down to 65ns or so at stock without any tuning. If that comes to pass, Intel will be back!

Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

Someone shared this: No idea about the source but if that's true, that's a pretty big jump for the NGU. That thing doesn't go above 34x for my 245KF so default being 55x in Panther and hopefully Nova Lake is going to be a big step in the right direction.

Ongoing AMD Zen6 Rumors Continue to Suggest a 12-Core Single-CCD “Olympic Ridge” Processor Is Inbound for the AM5 Platform

Problem is, AMD likes keeping costs low. Zen 6 probably already has a new IOD but whatever enhancements they have made to it, we'll be stuck with that IOD till Zen 7 or even Zen 8. I could see them doing a 3000 MHz fabric but not dual ones. They don't care that much because Intel isn't competing...

level1tech watching three ASROCK AM5 mobos like a hawk!

Nope. This happened on a B650: https://forum.level1techs.com/t/attempting-to-troubleshoot-the-asrock-motherboards-of-death/241539/31 That 9600X exhibiting USB issues before dying points to the IOD as the source of the problem.

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/244337/intel-xeon-658x-processor-144m-cache-3-00-ghz/specifications.html Their cheapest overclockable Xeon with 144MB cache. I think they are sending some sort of a message to impatient gamers out there :P

Threadripper alternative for the 1% rich. Unobtanium CPU for the rest of us. https://www.techpowerup.com/345914/intel-launches-xeon-600-series-workstation-cpus But hey, if anyone is slightly underwhelmed by their 245K, Intel has the solution!

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

I can't believe my luck! He replied and a VERY LONG reply at that, talking about his life etc. Most of it is not tech relevant so I'll just relate his tech thoughts: He got one of the Arrow Lake laptops. At the architecture level, he's impressed that it's a big leap over Alder Lake. Also, he...

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU Review: Fastest 8-Core

Valid point though these results translate a bit to 1440p resolution too which is what the majority of gamers have. Also, most 4K TV scalers are optimized to scale 1080p to 4K. That could also be a reason for focusing on 1080p benchmarks.

Build choice - am4 with more ram or am5 with less?

If you got only two channels, the faster the better. But it only helps on Intel platforms. Ryzen is limited by its fabric so I doubt you would see a major difference with 8000+ RAM. Arrow Lake is pretty decent with LLM...

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

I was just checking one of my rarely used email inboxes. I had sent an email to this assembly language and computer architecture expert (he's been employed by the big players) and he replied more than 18 months later so I had missed that email and just found it now. So, unfortunately because I...

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU Review: Fastest 8-Core

OUCH! https://www.techspot.com/review/3082-amd-ryzen-9850x3d/ People will claim that 285K is being used with the wrong settings but come on, if it has to be tweaked before it can work properly, that's a fail because the average person isn't going to do that.

Terrible NVME Write Performance on Lunar Lake Laptop

Mostly likely a BIOS issue with the ACER laptop. Try the partitioning trick with the M570 drive too. My guess is that on drive C, something is always writing and interfering with the benchmark. Maybe try benchmarking C drive in safe mode. Also, to rule out OS issue, boot from Linux Mint...

Something positive for a change: https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/compare/16384893?baseline=16074724 That's 290K @ 6800 MT/s against the 9950X3D2. With 8200 or higher RAM, results should improve considerably. This is the 290K vs. an experienced tweaker's 285K...

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

That's a totally different story coz the architectures were VASTLY different. But I still favored the P4 because it had potential to hit past 7 GHz especially with future process technologies. I deeply mourn the shelving of the Tejas prototype :( I wish they had continued their P4 experiment...

David Huang's SPEC 2017 table (edited to remove non-x86 CPUs)

It's not old. Panther Lake is there. That guy probably isn't impressed by the 7950X3D so not interested in plumping down the hard cash for 9950X3D. Or he could be waiting for a deal or another possibility is that he gets these chips on loan and AMD isn't willing to loan one to him this time...

AMD Could Be Prepping a Flagship Next-Gen GPU Featuring 96 Compute Units with Memory on a 512-Bit Bus

You do have the choice of getting their improper R9700 32GB card :) Should be a nice improvement over your XTX and then sell that when the prices go nuts to recoup some of the cost back.

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

Nope. I wanted desktop PTL to play with instead of ARL Refresh. This mobile PTL exists due to Intel's stupid focus on AI which has not paid off still. If I had even 1% of the wealth of the average stupid person involved in Intel's mind bendingly lame decisions, I would not have to work another...
