    Steam Winter Sale 2025

I know, I know, these aren't really the hot **** they used to be, but its still worth pointing out or discussing any deals you come across or your potential purchases for discussion's sake. A lot of game pricing nowadays is sticky and games tend to have a much higher "standard" price to their...

New Mozilla CEO Says Firefox Will Evolve into a “Modern AI Browser” with AI Features That Can Be Turned On or Off by the User

**** Firefox has been my go to for decades at this point. But they've clearly been lost in the desert since the end of the browser wars where they helped propel a lot of pro-user features across the browser ecosystem. Talk about not understanding your userbase. Whatever they do, I hope it...

The Game Awards Highlights: Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Cleans Up with Nine Wins, Two Tomb Raider Games on the Way, a New DIvinity Game Inbound, and...

-In all honesty it's been like 25 years since I last played MP and I've never played MP2 although it's in my Steam Library. Maybe I should make it a point to give those games a whirl and see if they stand the rest of time. As for Control, yeah maybe there isn't much there there, but what is...

    Steam Replay 2025

Pretty good year chewing through my library. Some real gems in there. Deus Ex Mankind Divided was fantastic and I can now join the dozen or so people who have beaten the game and are depressed that there likely will not be a sequel. Mad Max was another one. Pretty straightforward open world...

-TBF the game clocks in at ~15 hours on HLTB. I've been playing for about 10 and I feel quite powerful and have most of the upgrades at this point.

    - Yeah with Remedy games, the whole thing rides on the narrative. Either it hooks you and you're all in, or it doesn't and you're left with a very slick and stylish but ultimately basic shooter that is really only there to give you something to do between story beats. Control was by far...

Playing through Control now so how nice that Control Resonant was just announced. I love Remedy games and their unique style of weird X-Files/Twin Peaks narrative and suspense.

Gather Your Spells and Potions Because Hogwarts Legacy Is Free on the Epic Games Store Until December 18th

    - For me the game was hella basic Ubisoft style open world, but for my wife/daughter/son the basic (but solid) gameplay elements made the game enormously accessible and Hogwart's Castle and Hogsmead were incredibly well designed. Forced me to take a step back and remember that not every game...

Gather Your Spells and Potions Because Hogwarts Legacy Is Free on the Epic Games Store Until December 18th

It blows my mind WB didn't have a DLC or sequel plan or anything for this game after it's sold 34 million copies and brought in a billion in revenue. No wonder Netflix didn't even consider the gaming division...

Industry-Wide Price Hikes Expected in 2026 as Manufacturers Begin Implementing Price “Adjustments” Due to Memory and Storage Supply Shortages

I feel like we just need a good recession to reset the sort of weird zombie mode the US economy has been in since Covid and come closer to a fresh start.

2025 Game Thread - Anandtech Forums Are Dying Edition

It's a little late for this thread over here on the FPS forums, but with ATF having its issues or whatnot, I want to port the concept over. I'll start a 2026 thread once we're past Christmas. The idea is to identify 12 games that you will install, launch, and attempt to play during the course...

AMD FSR Redstone Is Coming To Town: ML-FSR For RDNA 4

The real test is whether or not this actually goes into any games (beyond COD slop).

Buyout Deal Worth $82 Billion Could See Netflix Gain Access to Warner Bros. Game IPs Such as Batman, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat

    - They're a load of fun if you're casually co-op gaming with your SO (if they're not really into games) or with young kids. They're simple, fun, have plenty of clean humor, etc. They are absolutely not some kind of transformative gaming experience though. A lot of their popularity comes from...

Buyout Deal Worth $82 Billion Could See Netflix Gain Access to Warner Bros. Game IPs Such as Batman, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat

Hopefully this means that WB will stop killing their successful gaming IPs with BS MTX/Live service nonsense. WB is such a weird publisher. They do a fantastic job maintaining the integrity of their IPs when making games, but then can't seem to let go of wanting to make live service slop...

CDPR Hopes to Finish the Upcoming the Witcher Trilogy Within Six Years, but Don’t Plan on Seeing Anything at This Year’s The Game Awards

While I look forward to TW4, especially after enjoying the hell out of TW3, I am a little worried by the cadence CDPR is looking for. I've seen SW mentioned in here and like that franchise I hope CDPR doesn't oversaturate the franchise with releases. Give each entry some time to breathe (not...

The more you know - thermal paste edition

I used to be on team "spread it thin with a credit card" but that was back in the naked die no heatspreader days. Now I just put a rice sized dab in the center of the heatspreader and I haven't had any temp issues in years. Might go over to X marks the spot though, just for thoroughness' sake.

AMD RDNA 3.5 Radeon 8060S iGPU Dukes It Out, and Bests, NVIDIA RTX 4070 and Many Other Mobile Graphics Solutions

Not sure why Valve didn't go in the Switch direction, they'd make something like the Aya Next (Deck 2) with a dock for TVs instead of the GabeCube. Cost on Strix Halo must be through the roof I guess.

Decent PC under $400 for kids and family

It's an alright baseline, especially because it appears to be built out of over the counter stuff (unlike a lot of the entry level Dell and HP stuff). Throw in a 9060XT 8GB for like $250 and you'd have a proper entry level PC going.
