level1tech watching three ASROCK AM5 mobos like a hawk!

https://videocardz.com/newz/one-asrock-board-allegedly-killed-three-ryzen-7-9800x3d-cpus-in-four-months That's the exact mobo I have! Haven't turned that thing on in ages because I paid through the nose for my 9950X3D. However, I wonder if AIO cooling prevents the CPU from getting hot enough...

The OLED Black Depth Lie – When Panel Type and Coating Matters

Yeah. I think they call their panels MVA to distinguish them from regular VA panels.

The OLED Black Depth Lie – When Panel Type and Coating Matters

Yeah I'm just sharing my experience. It could be that I'm one of a select few who have no issue with TN on premium laptop models because they are calibrated so well. I have M1 Macbook Air and an HP gaming laptop with 300 Hz IPS panel. The HP one has stunning colors while the Macbook Air has a...

The OLED Black Depth Lie – When Panel Type and Coating Matters

IPS Black is definitely an improvement. I wish my ASUS had that. One weird thing I don't understand is why laptops don't have VA panel screens. Maybe too bulky and power hungry for portable use? I hate being burned by expensive purchases.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is Official: AMD Puts 3D V-Cache on Both Chiplets, Launches April 22

That's a good point. Thanks Intel, for delaying the launch of 9950X3D2 with Lame Lake instead of it being an Arrow into the heart of the competition

The OLED Black Depth Lie – When Panel Type and Coating Matters

Have to disagree here but then I'm in the minority. The most expensive laptop I've ever owned, an ASUS Haswell model, had IPS. I absolutely hated the black levels of that thing. It was super distracting. My daily use browsing laptop is an Ivy Bridge Thinkpad I picked up for $250 from someone...

The OLED Black Depth Lie – When Panel Type and Coating Matters

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is Official: AMD Puts 3D V-Cache on Both Chiplets, Launches April 22

The only business reason I can think of for the 9950X3D2 to come out is that 9950X3D hasn't sold as much as they had hoped. So they did some general market survey as well as feedback from their important customers and one complaint they consistently received was lack of V-cache on the frequency...

There's this: https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/compare/17298533?baseline=17275882 The faster one is the same CPU with loadline 130.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is Official: AMD Puts 3D V-Cache on Both Chiplets, Launches April 22

I bet a lot of it is due to sour grapes. Since it wasn't available, people went for 9800X3D or 9950X3D and now they don't see why they should go to the trouble of selling their existing CPU, messing with their coolers to re-install the CPU etc. It's mainly AMD's fault for being so late. I regret...

It will help. The dual CCD X3D nutsack will finally be balanced. Because that's what the original plan was before someone thought, ph wait, let's make double the money...

Microsoft Standardizes Shader Execution Reordering in DirectX: Intel Arc Sees Up to 90% Ray Tracing Boost

I got turned off when I saw: AMD Radeon™ RX 9000 series supports API but doesn’t reorder. I have a RX 9060 XT. Not acceptable when Intel is doing it.

Sayonara Sora, as OpenAI Cancels Its Video Generation App and Disney Walks Back on Its $1 Billion Investment

Competition from the Chinese. Since they can't get the data centers built fast enough, they had to sacrifice the most power hungry application. It also seems like the revenue just wasn't there to justify keeping the service available.

    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K & Ultra 5 245K CPU Review

According to the Tom's Hardware review, one mechanism of action in iBOT is that Intel is ensuring that most frequently used data isn't evicted from the cache thus reducing the cache misses. I think this might be Intel's HW+SW secret, much like the scheduling hints between the OS scheduler and...
