    Look at it as "Adjustable Curvature" People will have different preferences when using something like this as a desktop monitor, some people like no curve, some like extreme curve. If you can adjust the curve to your liking they are more likely to sell more.

    I believe its two things: 1. Consumers buy products that suck on the promise that they will be fixed later 2. Development practices that involve the term: MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Number 2 combined with number 1 just continuously lowers the bar for number 2.
