NVIDIA isn't done with the GeForce RTX 30 Series and is planning to launch two new GeForce RTX 3060 models by the end of October, according to sources with VideoCardz.

Anything to burn that extra inventory.

You can rest assured a 4060 won't see the light of day until these start to dwindle.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Time for AMD to release and just have free win for a while.

The tinfoil hat part - where were all these extra parts when the cards really were scarce?

Basically, someone at the top keeps seeing how the x60 cards are consistently the top sellers regardless of gen and wants to find ways to milk them every way they can. At this point, they may've even exceeded what they did with the Pascal gen.

From TechPowerUp GPU DB:

Earmarked for the top end cards that were making Nvidia etc. more money?
My thought is they were just sitting in the same warehouse to artificially create scarcity - and yes, to drive more people to scale up for availability.

That, or these are the cards that we’re getting bought by the truckload by miners, and when that suddenly dried up they had one last production run that couldn’t get canceled in time.

GPU's get a staggered release anyways, xx60 model will probably launch 6 months or later after the high end ones shipped and sales start to taper off.

They failed pretty hard with the RX6000-series; the RX6400 should never have existed.

I think Intel is the only company really competing in the <US$200 space right now.
