Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new artificial intelligence company called xAI, one that, as opposed to OpenAI, is concerned with unlocking the mysteries of the universe. "The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe," reads a statement on the company's official website, which includes a list of 12 team members, including Musk, all of whom are set to participate in a Q&A scheduled for this Friday, July 14 on Twitter Spaces. xAI represents the latest in the growing lineup of Musk-owned companies, which already includes the likes of SpaceX and Tesla.

Cone on lets not forget the big hits like the Boring company and Twitter.

Remember when he said AI is dangerous and we should abandon all AI research? Now he goes for the if you can't tear it down invest* in it method.

*strictly other people's money ofc, by generating hype through BS.

Didn't we do this once already and found out the answer was 42?

You don't need AI for that. He fits the profile of an impulsive, vindictive narcissist who is the opposite of clever.
I disagree. He is smart about something. And he is driven as well. Whatever it is he is doing things that are stuff I'd love to be doing if I had the funds/inclination (other than buying twitter... that one is a head scratcher.).

I mean lets think about it. A long time ago he's quoted about wanting to colonize mars. What has he done....

1. He started Tesla... a solution for transportation on a planet with zero mining. Nuclear/solar can power electric vehicles just fine. (making them... that'll take mining.)

2. Colonizing Mars is going to be a PITA. Building structures where humans can be safe... Enter the Boring company... underground construction specialists.

3. Space X. The getting there part.

Twitter doesn't fit and seems pure vanity. He needs to let Twitter fly and focus on his end goal. If he can flip twitter for 45 billion that will be fine.

1. No he didn't, he bought into the company and forced out the founders with a hostile takeover. FSD is dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed on public roads. The Semi and Cybertruck are years from production if they even get there (despite of what Musk claimed multiple times). The roadster seems vaporware.

2. He is not colonizing mars, the whole idea is ludicrous science fiction. Starship is a disaster, SpaceX is looking at multiple lawsuits if half of what I've heard about Boca Chica is true. The boring company where he claimed he could make tunnels for 10% of the price? He managed to make a death trap at 10x the price. No ventillation, no escape tunnel, you are probably not even able to get out of the car in the vegas loop, imagine if a battery fire would occur there!

3. Space X, didn't really revolutionize space. By their own definition they did not make a rapid reusable craft yet, and didn't really reduce the price / kg to orbit either. Especially if we are talking about anything more than low earth orbit.

The only thing he is good at is making outlandish promises and predictions that pseudo scientific techbro youtubers eat up, and attract investors who doesn't care about the validity of his claims as long as the stock goes up.
