GIGABYTE has announced the AORUS Gen5 12000, a new PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD that features 3D-TLC NAND Flash, sequential read/write speeds of up to 12,400/11,800 MB/s, and an optional M.2 Thermal Guard XTREME heat sink made up of two heat pipes and stacked fins with advanced thermal technology Nanocarbon coating for what GIGABYTE says is maximum heat dissipation efficiency. The new SSD is available in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities.

Yeah, pretty sure the heatsink is justified here. I wonder exactly what other system components (motherboard chipsets/CPU/memory) are needed to fully realize these speeds as well. I somehow doubt a budget Gen5 setup will be able to utilize that potential but I could easily be wrong.
