Intel Introduces Thunderbolt 5 Connectivity Standard with Up to 120 Gbps of Bandwidth: First Devices Expected in 2024

Intel has announced that computers and accessories based on Thunderbolt 5, a new iteration of the industry-leading connectivity solution that promises to deliver significant improvements in connectivity speed and bandwidth benefits for PC users, are expected to be available starting next year in 2024. According to a press release that Intel shared today, Thunderbolt 5 is capable of delivering 80 gigabits per second (Gbps) of bi-directional bandwidth, and, with a technology called Bandwidth Boost, can provide up to 120 Gbps for what Intel has described as the best display experience. Intel says that this is three times more bandwidth than what Thunderbolt 4 offers.
