The Release of The Last of Us Part II: Remastered Edition has not been officially announced but it is well known to have been in development. The original sequel to Naughty Dog's blockbuster was originally released for the PS4 in 2020 and then later for the PS5. The franchise experienced a new fervor in 2023 with the release of the PC version along with HBO's Emmy-nominated series. Meanwhile, some folks on the development team just cannot seem to stop letting it slip that a new project is in the works for the second game.

Let me go out on a limb here and say that the leak probably comes from one of the disgruntled contractors who has been "fired".
 
... or it could be a purposeful marketing strategy to build hype.
I'd say this. The leaks come via Naughty Dog's own Lead Outsource Artist and the game's composer who even added that he was limited on how much could be said about it. The catch is that the ladder removed mention of it from their LinkedIn page shortly after it had been spotted.
 
It's Sony and they definitely have their own way of announcing things, usually after months, sometimes years, of rumors.
