After many months of legal challenges from across the globe, it is now official that one of the biggest mergers in the video game industry is happening. As Microsoft completes its purchase of Activision Blizzard and King, changes are already being announced. Even as Xbox boss Phil Spencer took to unveil news of the merger Activision CEO Bobby Kotick simultaneously announced the new chapter, including his departure from the company by the end of 2023. Kotick will remain on board to assist with the integration into Xbox. Meanwhile, Microsoft has already prepared its own welcome to Xbox trailer for the monumental event.

This is one of those yay-boo moments.

I'm sure plenty of people are rejoicing to see Bobby go. I could really care less, but it was a stink. So yay.

But.. now it's owned by Microsoft. Boo.

Be careful what you wish for, maybe?
 
If they can bring back some of the original creators and get some of the spark back for games like WOW and DIablo it might be a good thing. Otherwise... You're like the 4th husband marring your 4th bride. At this point it's till death because screw it.
 
He'll still remain a board member, so technically isn't really exiting. He might even retain his corner office, just as Bob Iger did at Disney when he was "stepping down".
