It doesn't matter which side of the fence you prefer because, according to new sales data, gamers have overwhelmingly rejected GPUs with 8 GB VRAM from both AMD and NVIDIA.

Sure this seems right when looking for a new card, but looking at some charts the old cards like the 3070 still comes close to some of these newer cards with double the memory.

Yep, and that's exactly what's happening. Folks are plenty happy to keep their older cards vs buying a new one with the same amount of VRAM. We've typically seen it take 2 or 3 gens for the older cards to roll down the list but it's very unlikely this gen's 8 GB will ever be at the top of these lists.
