We’ve experienced a lot of new “norms” in 2020, one of which has been the recurring shortage of various technologies ranging from CPUs and GPUs to smartphones and other mobile devices. The majority of the shortages seem to stem from memory and power management chips (e.g., pulse-width modulation ICs). We’re already well aware of the impact that memory chip shortages have played with NVIDIA’s most recent GPU launch, as well as its roles for new phones and SSDs, but PWM ICs are also playing a contributing factor.
