One of the questions surrounding the release of AMD’s latest Ryzen processors relates to older motherboard support. Some manufacturers have provided updated BIOSes for various 400 Series motherboards, and more are on the way in 2021. While 300 Series owners have largely (but not entirely) been left out of the mix, someone has managed to get a Ryzen 5 5600X CPU running on their ASRock X370 Taichi motherboard.

Hey here's hoping hacked BIOS'es become a thing again. I remember using hacked BIOSes a bunch of years ago on the ECS-K7S5A using Athlon XP+ cpus to support wider range of cpus and also up the clock speeds.

But later on when I wanted one for an AM3 board I wanted to upgrade to FX from Phenom 2, totally out of luck. Joke might have been on me though since the Phenom 2 system turned out to be as good or better than the FX replacement I built.

Anyway this gives me hope for upgrades. Also could tap into a cheap source of old motherboards to work like new again.
